In this post I will show you how to enable the dark theme in configuration Manager console. This is the new feature introduced as a Pre-release in Configuration manager version 2203. Hence, we have 2 options available, one as “light theme” and another as “dark theme”.

How to enable Dark theme

For start using dark theme, you have to first enable it as it is a Pre-release feature.

Open Configuration Manager console and navigate to \Administration\Overview\Updates and Servicing\Features. Here you can see Console dark theme, right click and select “Turn On”

Unable to enable Dark Theme?

If Turn On is greyed out and you are not able to enable it. This means Pre-Release features are not enabled in your environment.

Enable Pre-Release features: Navigate to \Administration\Overview\Site Configuration\Sites, select Site and select Hierarchy Settings.

Under General tab, check the box Consent to use Pre-Release features and click OK.

Once this is done, allow some time to process the request. Navigate back to \Administration\Overview\Updates and Servicing\Features, you will be able to Turn On the Console dark theme.

How to switch console theme to Dark Mode

Once feature is enabled, you can easily switch to Dark Mode by click on Drop down sign on Top left and select Switch console theme.

You will be represented with the message : The default theme for the Configuration Manager console is applied. Restart your console for it to affect.

Close the console and launch it again, and you are represented with Dark theme Configuration Manager console

If you are not restarting the console while apply Dark theme, you might not see all nodes showing in dark mode, hence restart is a must to get it applied correctly.

Disable Console Dark Theme

Once again go to top left menu and select Switch Console theme to apply light theme. Restart the console to see the default light theme getting applied in the console.
