In this post I will show you how to check the task sequence reference package size. As we know that task sequence is a series of multiple steps which can include Operating system step along with other list of applications and packages, we might need to know the actual size of all referenced packages included into task sequence.
What is the size of Task Sequence
For the purpose of creating a standalone media, its better to know the actual size of the task sequence as based upon that you have to choose the correct USB / boot media size.
Login to SCCM server and launch Configuration Manager console.
Navigate to \Software Library\Overview\Operating Systems\Task Sequences, select the task sequence for which you are interested to check the size.
Once the task sequence is selected, underneath it there will be multiple tabs with the names:
- Phased Deployments
Click on References tab which will show all the referenced software included in the task sequence such as Operating System Image, Driver package, Boot Image, applications and packages.
With every Software listed under References you can size the size of each package in MB along with Package ID. This is where you can add up to see the actual size.
There is a better way to calculate the size. And that is to copy the info from References by selecting All, then proceed with Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) in excel sheet.
This is how it looks like in excel:
